This module covers Mechanics and Kinetic Theory. Mechanics covers how things move, and what sort of conditions are needed for something to stay still. Forces and their effects are studied. The Physics of structures depends on all forces adding up to zero. Collisions are studied and the three classic laws of Newton. All these ideas are brought together in the Kinetic Theory which explains the behaviour of gases.
Many colleges, including my own, start off with Module 2 in preference to Module 1, since many of the basic ideas in Module 2 are essential to the successful study of Physics. Module 2 also enables students to make the transition from GCSE to A level that bit more easily.
