Answer 2_11_8
Explain two advantages and two disadvantages of using bespoke
software compared to generic software for a company.
Advantages:
- Bespoke software is
developed to produce a solution that is specific to that company's
particular needs;
- All its functions are
designed to fit in with the company's systems;
- Software is written by
expert programmers, and the code may be more efficient than that offered in
generic software;
- The support offered by
the software house is specific to that clients needs.
Disadvantages:
- It is very expensive;
- It takes a long time to
develop the software;
- It only works well if
the company's requirements have been accurately analysed. Sometimes
this is quite hard to do, especially if the company is vague about what it
needs.
