What criteria would a company use in deciding
between several different software houses when a new system is going to be
delivered?
Criteria include:
- Cost - the cheapest is not necessarily the best
value;
- Competence - how well has each company
implemented complex systems?
- Support - what kind of support will the
consultants give to staff as they change systems?
- Technical systems support - how will the
consultants support the organisation if the software goes wrong?
- What are the hardware implications - will new
hardware be necessary to run the new system? Can they supply the
hardware? Will they support it?
- How closely will the consultants work with the
organisation to ensure the software is exactly right?
- How will the system be upgraded?
- Is the proposed system able to handle the
current data files? Or will the files need to be converted?
- How will the change-over be managed?
- How will the system adapt to new circumstances
in the company?
