(a)  Suggest a possible consequence of user-friendliness being given a low weighting.

(b)  Comment on the relative size of the weighting for printing speed compared to other features.

(c) State three advantages of this method for selecting a computer system

(d) Identify four factors other than those listed which should be taken into account before a system is purchased.  Justify your suggestions.

 

(a) Staff may find that the software is difficult to operate.  This may well lead to to stress and low productivity.

(b) The bill printing speed is the most important factor, so is given the highest weighting.  The software has to be able to print out at least 100 000 bills, about 3 every second in the working day.

(c) All the packages are put through the same set of tests.  The results can be easily quantified.  The decision is made  more methodically than just a simple impression of how each package works; it can be justified on that basis.
