Question 8  A small company is working on its back up policy.  State three back-up regimes and give one advantage and one disadvantage for each.

Full back up:

• Advantage: All data files and all program files are copied.  This make restoration of the system easy after a failure.

• Disadvantage:  very time consuming if a large volume of data has to be copied.

Incremental Back-up:

• Advantage: Less time consuming to do the back-up.

• Disadvantage:  More complex to restore, as data has to be input in the correct order.

On-line Back-up:

• Advantage: All data files and all program files are copied all the time.  No data are lost at all even if there is a major failure

• Disadvantage:  expensive, if a third party is involved.
